After resawing the board for the doors on this walnut cabinet (9 in. deep by 14 in. wide by 54 in. tall), Kirk saw the hourglass figure in the grain as a design opportunity. The result is what he describes as a feminine take on the popular Krenov cabinet-on-stand. This version has a very slight radius to the cabinet front and stand, as well as more delicate proportions. The pulls are ebony. The cabinet won third place in the Furniture Society's Faculty Selects 2012.
