Woodworker: Bryce Green

This walnut bench (52 in. long by 13 in. wide by 17-1⁄8 in. tall; drawer box, 17 in. long by 11 in. wide by 5-1⁄4 in. tall) is Green's first project as a woodworker (and his first as a student at College of the Redwoods). Inspiration came from a bench by Charles and Ray Eames he'd seen in the book Handcrafted Modern by Leslie Williamson. "The whole process of making a piece was new to me," he says, "from creating a mockup to applying a finish. I was constantly learning how to work with the wood, be present in the process, and be patient with myself."
