Sock Stool
comments (0) October 23rd, 2008 in The GalleryI made this stool for my Dad when he came down to see my son. It is made of curly cherry and cocobolo. I call it a sock stool because it is fairly short and small and I thought it would be nice to sit on while you put your socks on in the morning. He agreed and says he uses it often now. The assembly is entirely out of dovetails including a sliding dovetail up the middle center for the cocobolo center support. I really tried to embrace the sap and used it to accent the wrap-around of the wood grain following up and down the stool. I put it out in the sun for several days and that made the cherry color up very nicely. Tried and True and wax for the finish.
