Plane O' Box

When I first saw the advertisement for this contest, I had no idea what to make. When I was looking at planes I thought it would be great to have a working tool that could be used for storage. I had a little bit of material to work with. When I was building the plane the first design did not work so the outcome was the pivoting lids on brass rods with dovetails. Overall I am pleased with my box
The plane consists of Hard Maple, Padauk and Brass. All the material was resawn and planed by hand to final thickness. It’s about 10in long 2in wide and 1 ½ in tall. The dovetailed lids pivot on brass rods that are exposed on both sides. The chip breaker is made out of Padauk held down with a brass rod.
