Laptop Table For The Bed

Hi Folks, I built this Laptop Table mainly to make it more cofortable to use a laptop in bed, as I'm sure many of you may well do. I also felt that while using it on the bed cover, the actual air inlet in the front, and more importantly , on the back of the laptop, were getting covered up. Hence the lack of propper cooling.

So I decided for thing it must have the proper contour of my form in the bed so as not to restrict my movement too much but for it to be functional too. I did ponder on the idea of making the top part somewhat adjustable but then did not go any further with that given that the screen is adjustable. Though I did make a type of folding piece that was going to go on the top back of the table portion. this could then be raised or lowered via a miniture hinge. I still would like to add this to give a little rise at the rear of the laptop.

I also added aluminium struts to give the regidity to the whole thing as you can see. I wanted to add this to give some contemporary style to it too and make it a little less boring to look at, hence the fake dovetails , so to speak. These are actually where the joints for the 3 pieces of Ash I used. I thought it looked good and just gave it a little more pep!

Ash, Walnut and Aluminium. Finished with Linceed Oil.
