Woodworker: Eric OranskyOransky based this reproduction of a Hepplewhite serpentine chest of drawers on a piece made in the late 1700s in New England. He created a scaled drawing of the piece (22-1/4-in. deep by 40-1/2-in. wide by 38-in. tall) from a photo, then worked out the details and curves in full-scale drawings. He matched the veneers, inlay, and hardware as best he could. The woods are mahogany, avodire, and poplar, and the finish is shellac and wax. Oransky, 27, says the project took about 600 hours to complete.
