2008 was a rough year for my wife. In March her father suffered a major heart attack and underwent open heart surgery. As the eldest in the family, she took the brunt of the impact. When this Valentines Day  rolled around I knew I needed to pull out all the stops and come up with a Valentine 'card' to end all cards. I was pretty sure she would be tickled with this box as she is an artist and appreciates a somewhat unconventional approach to Valentines Day.  I was right. She said she thought it was the best Valentines Day Card she had ever had.

And by the way - her father has recovered -  although it was touch and go after a subsequent bout with pneumonia, blood infection and skin cancer. I gotta say I'm glad he's a tough old bird. . .

The piece was stained with two colors of analine dye then tung oiled then waxed and polished.

Design or Plan used: My father-in-law's ultrasound scan.
