Shaker Tall Clock

The clock Robert Treanor shows how to build is based on one that’s believed to be the work of Benjamin Youngs, a clockmaker in the Shaker community of Watervliet, New York. Treanor modified the dimensions a bit to fit today’s standard stock. The case joinery is simple and strong using a doweling jig. Sliding dovetails join the hood top and sides, and rabbets in the inside faces of the sides help keep out dust. The hood door is rabbeted for a glass insert. Detailed project plans help show how all the parts come together.
