Danny Kamerath works wood in a small attic shop in Dallas, Texas, making a wide range of stunningly original and impeccably crafted works–everything from chairs and chests of drawers to palm-sized sculptures. With an unfettered imagination, Kamerath is limited only by the size of the trapdoor that affords access to his shop.
Kamerath went to college intending to study sculpture, but in a required course on advertising design he encountered a charismatic teacher who changed his life’s path. Kamerath spent 23 years in advertising, working on corporate reports, among other things, before deciding 12 years ago to close his office and become a woodworker full time.
In this audio slideshow Kamerath describes an array of his woodwork and shows how he makes one of his signature splash bowls, which mimic the appearance of liquid in mid splash.
