This comfortable lounge chair, with its modern lines and shapely curves, looks complicated. It incorporates 25 steam-bent staves, which also sounds complicated. But it’s really quite manageable. There are three different stave shapes and sizes in the chair, but you only need one bending form. The form shapes all the staves into the same S-curve, and then the smaller staves are cut from the larger ones. The glue-up is aided by alignment pins and screws, so you can move along at a comfortable pace and it won’t take a ton of work to smooth the back and seat.
