Table boldly goes where no woodworker has gone before
Barry Shields, from Sevierville, Tennessee, put his woodworking into warp drive to build this Star Trek coffee table, modeled after the iconic Starship Enterprise.
It’s made of ash, poplar, and cherry and is 34 in. wide by 54 in. long by 17 in. tall, including the 1/4 in. thick glass top. According to his website, Shields works for AT&T during the day and engages his woodworking in earnest in his spare time, hoping that selling more pieces will transport him to a new profession.
Looks like he’s having some fun. “Live long and prosper.”
No Klingon could resist putting their feet on this table.
You can buy the piece for $3,100.
Dammit, Jim, the finish ain't dry yet!
