Back in FWW#196 Gary Rogowski wrote an article advocating some morning warm-up exercises as a way to start his day in the shop. He likes to cut a quick dovetail joint in a couple of scraps. It’s not such a bad way to start out with SketchUp, either. This morning before leaving for work I had a few minutes and thought I’d get in a little practice with SketchUp while drinking my coffee.
I started with this chair I drew for Thos. Moser a few years ago. It’s from their Windward Collection.
I modified some components and deleted others but I didn’t draw any new components. I wound up with this contemporary chair based loosely on one I saw in a photo on a design website.
It was only a few minutes worth of drawing work to come up with something completely different.
If you do this sort of thing, remember to use File>Save as… instead of Save.
