Here’s a bit of news I came across several weeks ago while cruising some favorite sites. Clark & Williams has changed its name to Old Street Tool, Inc. You can read an explanation for the name change here. Basically, Bill Clark moved from Eureka Springs to attend to some family obligations and Clark & Williams was amicably dissolved. I spoke with Larry Williams this afternoon and he told that they had wanted to keep the name Clark & Williams (which wasn’t incorporated), but couldn’t because ampersands cause problems when used in the names of companies that are incorporated. Fortunately, there has been no disruption in business. Larry and Don McConnell are hard at work making planes. And when I was at the Colonial Williamsburg conference earlier a few weeks ago, one of the joiners (carpenters) from Williamsburg had a nice, new Old Street Tool plane to show off.
