You’ve been reading our posts for the last few weeks, and it occurs to me you may have some questions about what exactly CustomMade is. So, I’ve compiled a list of the common questions that we receive in the hopes that it gives you some insight into who we are and what we do at CustomMade.
What services do you offer woodworkers?
CustomMade offers woodworkers a highly trafficked online portfolio (that for some acts as their website) that puts your work in front of thousands of potential customers every month. You can post photos of your work, write descriptions of every piece, and get contacted by interested customers directly through your profile.
What can I get for free?
All subscribers receive leads that come through their profile for free; we never impede the sales process by asking you to bid on or pay for leads. If you aren’t quite ready to become a subscriber, we offer a free plan that lets you post three photos and write a bio of your work and style.
How much does it cost?
We offer three subscription plans: Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Prices range from $400/year to $1200/year. The variation in prices reflects the different features in each plan. For example, subscribers on the Gold Plan can maintain their own Artisan Blog on their profile, which helps attract visitors to and increase time spent on their profile. You can learn more about the features offered in each plan by visiting the signup page.
How much do most people earn from the site?
The average transaction amount on CustomMade is $3000. Of course, this can increase of decrease based on the type of work you do and how you price your work. The sale of a cabinet installation would be higher than that of a nightstand.
What makes CustomMade uniquely positioned to help woodworkers?
The CustomMade website has been around for 14 years, has a great URL, and is rich with good, relevant content about woodworking. These things along with our dedication to SEO have given us immense credibility with Google’s crawlers, and thus excellent search rankings. You’ll find we are frequently ranked near the top, if not number one, for many custom furniture search terms, which means it’s easy for consumers to find us (and by extension, you) when they’re looking to have something custom made for their home.
We’re also very proud of our unassuming office in Cambridge, MA. We’ve worked hard to be a company that “feels small” no matter how many employees we have. That means we have lots of people working quite literally around the clock to help you market yourself better (and ultimately get more jobs). Plus, there are live human beings you can actually speak with when you have a question, unlike many other internet companies.

"THE RAIN-MAN COMETH"
That is the impression that I get reading your blogs.
Don B.
I'm either to old or to young to know what 'the rain-man cometh' means. Good or bad?
Bob
We were wondering the same thing! Don, we'd love more feedback. Could you elaborate a bit?
