Re: Behold, the Speed Tenon
I agree that this is not something I would teach my beginning adult woodworking students. No doubt it works.I have used it and feel if the correct amount of focus is given to it's use it's fine. I feel it's better for FWW to show it as a technique so the new woodworker will know the hazards involved.
posted: 10:42 am on November 5thPerhaps it could be run in an article that is titled
"unsafe techniques that work" or and article that is titled"questionable table saw techniques"or "techniques for pros beginners beware" or as others have suggested put a safety rating on techniques from 1-10 .FWW has a safety and disclaimer already and you have run the video already so If FWW was really concerned about the liability you would not have put it on line in the first place.
Re: Serpentine Bow Front Writing Desk
Denis seeing this wonderful piece is a pleasure its great design and it's details and executions is of very high quality. At this point in your life you are at the beginning of your woodworking career but you already show that your work is at a very high level of workmanship. This piece is t my favorite in this competition and deserve to win this contest.

posted: 7:12 pm on October 28thNorm and Russell You changed my life I got hooked way back when BV was the host of this old house I always had the feeling that he was more of a host than an expert. I then started watching The New Yankee workshop I soon started gathering tools for my shop and a year or so latter went into the contracting business, This scared the daylights out of my wife who would always say have you done this before and of course the answer was No. With the help of this old house ,The New Yankee workshop and Fine Homebuilding and Fine Woodworking plus a great number of Taunton press books I was self taught with all the experts on the shows and magazines and books. I'm now a 20 year contractor and own my own furniture/cabinet shop. I'm sorry to see your show end but thank you all for all the help and entertainment through the years.

Re: Carve a Rosette - 1-2-3!
Charles describes making the rosette so well that you want to go to your shop and crank out a dozen or so even though you don't have a project to put them on. Adding the dye really made the whole rosette complete. After watching a number of Charles Neils Videos on line on a number of subjects I find I always learn something new even though I've been woodworking for 20 years and think I already know the subject matter. I'm glade to see Fine Woodworking discover Charles great talent and excellent teaching skills and hope to see more articles and videos through the Taunton Press by Charles Neil

The Trip to the specialty mill was very informative. I could not believe the selection and having wood in the kiln for weeks at a time was also a surprise. As usual Charles made the visit very interesting.
