Clark received a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Arts from the University of Virginia in 2003. After a brief stint as a designer and draftsman for a Houston-based offshore engineering firm, he decided to pursue furniture making as a full-time profession, and enrolled in the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship’s inaugural Nine-Month Comprehensive program. Two years later he decided to see what California had to offer, and applied to (and graduated from) the College of the Redwoods’ Fine Woodworking Program.

Giant Jenga

I decided to make a giant Jenga set for our annual Festivus celebration.  If you have the room to set it up (or the patience to cut all the blocks), I would highly recommend building a set...

Little Squam

This small table is a companion piece to a larger sideboard (I actually built the table as a prototype for the sideboard.)  The legs, rails, and drawer fronts are solid teak, the panels are...

Piano Box

This box came about as a commission to build something out of what little was left of an old family piano after it had been irreparably damaged. Unfortunately, the body of the piano couldn't be...

Correspondence Box

This piece came about after re-watching one of my favorite movies, "The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou." There is a line at some point where Steve Zissou mentions to his wife Eleanor that they need...

Garden Bench

I built this bench from two planks of reclaimed, "sinker" cypress I found in the way, way back of a lumber mill in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. As far as I can tell, the tree they came from was well over...

Treasure Box

This is a piece I made from a reclaimed floor joist taken from a warehouse here in Houston.  I wanted to make a box you could keep your secret stuff in (like tiny rocks and souvenir pencils...

Banks St. Coffee Table

This piece was built for a client who wanted a coffee table with a few nice, little details, but didn’t want to “bump into it.” The result is a table with a small overhang, curved...

Music Box

Music Box, 2008.  Walnut, pearwood.  Liberon oil (exterior), shellac and wax (interior).  17"L x 10"D x 9"H   Dovetail construction with frame-and-panel lid.

Vidar Chairs

These chairs are reproductions of ones originally built by Swedish furnituremaker Vidar Malmsten (and son of legendary designer Carl Malmsten).  I built them as an exercise in chairmaking...

Showcase Cabinet

This is a small showcase cabinet I made as my final project while attending the College of the Redwoods' Fine Woodworking Program.  The idea was to keep the design as simple (and manageable) as...

Re: chest of drawers

Awesome work dude. Really gorgeous. I hope I get to see it in person some day - I'm sure it sings. Was it a spec piece or a commission?

Keep up the good work. I hope you're doing well.

Cheers,
Clarkito

Re: Kathy's Chair

Scott - I followed this chair's construction on IP's website. Both the design and execution are outstanding. I hope you keep up the good work.
