This is a chip carved chest that is design to hold sheet music.   It is made entirely of basswood and the finish is 6 coats of semigloss polyurethane.    The drawers are mounted on wooden slides to provide full drawer extension.  As can be seen, the front carving is the words and musical notes to the song America.

Congradulations on your chest. As others have mentioned, fantastic chip carving. I have been pondering making a music
chest for my daughter also. What is the size of your chest?
What is the height of your drawers?

Thanks, Susan

I'm sure your daughter loves her new chest!
