This piece was built as a commission for a box that could hold "31 CDs and an iPod"...
Detail, Music Box exterior.
The outer walnut box contains three separate dovetailed pearwood boxes. Two boxes have dividers for a particular CD collection, and the third box has inserts and a removable tray to allow an iPod to be stored, charged, and played within the box. Shown here with iPod, remote, and charger (stored below iPod.)
"Exploded View" of the Music Box. Shown here with the outer box in walnut, and the three interior pearwood boxes, tray, and shop-made plywood inserts.
Brass shop-made standoff for the woven lid-stay. I shamelessly stole this idea from my friend Andrew.
