Free Plan: Shaker Tall Clock
comments (13) February 9th, 2009 in blogsIs there anything more soothing than the subtle sound of a tall clock’s steady movement? The ocean maybe, but try getting that in your living room. Besides, a tall clock is one of those heirloom pieces of furniture that end up getting passed down through the generations. And these plans, by Robert Treanor, utilize standard lumberyard material – 1x12’s, 1x10’s, and 1x8’s. So after a trip to the lumberyard you’ll be ready to get started without having to dimension your materials.
The Shaker clock, based on an early 19th century design, is unadorned and classic in form. The case joinery is as uncomplicated as the design. The sides are glued and nailed into rabbets cut in the case front. The back is screwed on, and the case is joined to the base with dowels.
The painted finish of this clock is simple and authentic, but you can also use hardwood with a clear finish.

1. Click the CLICK HERE link above. It loads another page that kind of looks the same.
2. On the newly loaded page, look for the link that says "View as PDF," and click on that. That downloads a PDF version of the article into your browser.
3. Click "Save" in your browser, and voila! You have a printable PDF of the plans.
