This is my 3rd gift project. The box measures approximately 11" wide by 14.5" tall by 3.5" deep. I used reclaimed walnut from a friends cabinet making off cuts; reclaimed Beech (I believe) from a large shipping cradle; a Birds-Eye Maple off-cut from a friends shop. I used a wipe on oil-varnish blend following a recipe I found in FineWoodWorking, Tools & Shops, No. 167.
