I bought this "hardware alphabet" from toolsforwoodworking around when my son was born.  I used Pecan and colored it to look like walnut (poor man's walnut) to match my son's crib (see other post).  This Pecan was pretty sketchy and it was a great opportunity to use fairly narrow pieces to cut around major drying defects.

I used half lap joints to buld the frames, cut the "glass" from acrylic bought at the local home center.  The frames cover most of one wall in his room.

The frames are arts and crafts style.  Nothing too fancy on the backend to hold the pictures in.
