Walnut Urn - My own design. 8"tall x 4"dia. Three coats of wipe on poly, with steel wool rub out between coats. Turned from a walnut tree that had been standing dead for seven years. This was the second top I turned for this one, the first was of pine and just didn't look right. The top was turned from a squared piece of wood, NOT cut after it was turned. A wicked piece of wood spinning on the lathe! This is a mock-up for an urn I turned for my mother's ashes. Styled after an Oriental Vase she loved. The top on this one is loosely fitted. The final one has a threaded top to it.
