Later I made them a pair of bedside tables. There is a drawer in the top part of the trim, and the front panel is on a hidden wooden hinge for additional storage.  Around all four sides of each foot is inlaid an embossed leather knot pattern. These table were also from reclaimed wood.  The bed went on to make it into a couple of magazines, shot in the context of their house.  It was a great experience.

The client wished for a magnificent bed that would reflect his heritage, and gave me free reign to design.  I thought, let's make it as fantastic as possible, and put patterns and carvings everywhere. It is queen-size with a 7' tall headboard (their room is open two-storey vaulted ceiling). It is all hand carved out of reclaimed materials, and there are many details which the photos just don't show.  Most of it was built int their tiny shack of a garage with a table saw, jig saw, router, some chisels, and sheer determination.  The total project took 400 hours.  They loved it.
